JOB DESCRIPTION
OFFICE CLERK



JOB GOAL:


Responsible for performing clerical and administrative duties in an office setting. Assists the Appraisal District office by sorting mail, filing, answering phones, greeting property owners, and restocking supplies.To perform a variety of clerical work as quickly and efficient as possible and support the total efforts of the Appraisal District.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the answering of all telephone calls and directs them properly or answers questions requested by phone.

  • Assists in the completion of applications for various exemptions being filed by property owners.

  • Files as needed.

  • Files all correspondence as directed.

  • Assist in locating property in our mapping department.

  • Attend all walk-in persons requesting information on value, lot measurements, etc.

  • Creates and distributes 200ft. and 500ft. radius studies from subject property including maps and excel sheets containing property owners name and mailing addresses.

  • Assists with outgoing mail, appraisal notices, renditions, etc.

  • Assist in stamping and mailing correspondence to property owners.

  • Maintains inventory of office supplies.

  • Fax appraisal cards as requested.

  • Responsible of the postage machine (when mailing renditions or correspondence to property owners.)

  • Keeps track of postage meter system.

  • Assist in the data entry of personal property renditions during the high volume season.

  • Fills in the Duty of the Front Counter Receptionist as needed.

  • Performs other duties assigned by the Deputy Chief Appraiser/Chief Appraiser


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School education or equivalent.




JOB SKILLS:

  • Must be able to communicate well with the public

  • Must be courteous in assisting the public

  • Must have some computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.) and knowledge of other office equipment.

  • Must demonstrate professionalism in conduct, appearance, and attitude towards working with the public and coworkers.

  • Must exercise independent judgment and perform work duties with little supervision.

Appraiser Apprentice Position Available

APPRAISER APPRENTICE



JOB GOAL:

To become proficient in all aspects of the district's mass appraisal process
and arrive at market value on all properties assigned
. To become
knowledgeable of the District's schedules and proficient thereof.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for obtaining building permits and attaching to property cards.
• Responsible for inserting all Marshall & Swift Manual updates.
• Assist with real property field inspection and data entry.
• Assist with property splits and undivided interest deeds.
• Assist with the appraisal of commercial property
.
• Creating appraisal cards on new subdivision
• Assist property owner with problems relating to appraisals
, exemptions,
ownership changes and other pertaining to property values.
• Assists in updating and maintaining construction costs estimates and
other appraisal data as requested.
• Assist in obtaining sales information
.
• Assist with the appraisal of personal property
• Performs other duties as directed by Senior Appraiser

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School graduate or equ
ivalent (GED), two years of college preferred.
• Must be eligible for registration with BTPE and complete RPA designation
with allotted time.
• Must have current Texas Drivers License
, dependable transportation and
insurance coverage.

EXPERIENCE AND JOB SKILLS:

• Ability to communicate well with the public
• Proficient in mathematical computations
• Knowledge of current law and regulations pertaining to ad valorem
taxation
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
